This classic well-detailed oak pergola in Limerick provides a trellis for a young Wisteria plant as well as a seat to gently sway a summer evening away with a glass of wine. The post and beam structure includes handmade oak nails to lock each beam in place and all joints are fully housed and jointed to provide a long-lasting garden feature. Green oak was used for the pergola with top quality air-dried quarter-sawn oak selected for the swinging bench. The swing displays a our superior attention to detail, particularly around the design of the back rest, the elegant oak pins where mortise meets tenon and at the points where the heavy rope is fixed to the wood.
The superior quality of the dried wood and the joy of working green oak made this a project of great pleasure to design and build and this is a great example of how to design an outdoor wooden project for our damp climate which will give many years of service with little or no maintenance.
